BQ27426: compensation for temperature

Part Number: BQ27426

Hi,

Could you please let me know following for detecting battery with bq27426?

1. Will gauge calculate SOC / Rem cap based on thermistor when battery is inserted?

2. Is there a parameter to compensate Ra table? I believe Flash have Rb table. Is there  Rb table in ROM version.

3. If #2 is yes, I guess user cannot  read Rb table in. Is it correct?

Regards,
Nagata.

  • Hi Nagata-san,

The bq27426 is a low cost ROM based gauge with pre-programmed chemistry that is not modifiable. Yes, the gauge will adjust remcap on battery insertion/ thermistor detection. You are also right stating that flash gauges do have Rb tables that can be programmed. This gauge does not. The user cannot read the Rb table.
  • Hi, Batt,

Could you please check your comment :

Is this mean ROM gauges have Rb table in ROM but user cannot read / programm?

    Nagata.

  • Hi Nagata-san,

Yes, you are right. This is a ROM gauge that does have an Rb table like the other IT gauges. We do need Rb coefficients to adjust for temperature variations. However, the user cannot access or reprogram these values from factory defaults in the bq27426 or other low cost ROM gauges.
