BQ25708: 3S Lipo Charging from USB

Hi,

I have an application with requirement of supplying uninterrupted power of 12V 1A from a supply of 5V 2A. It has 3S LiPo battery as power backup. It’s a standalone application. I am considering the following:

  1. Option 1: Battery charger(BQ24172) + Voltage Booster(TPS55340)
  2. Option 2: Buck Boost Charger BQ25708 / bq25700A (not sure if it can work standalone)

Kindly suggest which is the better approach. Any other part number suggestion is also welcome. BOM cost isn’t much of an issue but I need low component count.
