BQ24650: For better efficiency working with solar panels

Hello,

Currently in my system I am charging my LiPo batteries from solar panels using BQ24195 which is not specifically designed for solar power charging. Would there be any improvements in the efficiency and charging processes if I used BQ24650 which is designed specifically for solar charging solutions.

    The BQ24195 is likely more efficient than the BQ24650 because it is optimized for charging single cell batteries where the BQ24650 is optimized for 2-3 cell batteries but can charge a single cell battery. The BQ24650 has external resistor controlled VINDPM, called MPPSET, which essentially regulates the charger's input voltage to the solar panel's MPP, typically 80% of its open circuit voltage (VOC). The host software can use I2C to set the BQ24195's VINDPM level to the panel's MPP point as well.
