LP8863EVM: constant current method

Part Number: LP8863EVM

We have questions of LP8863 product. We want to solve the following 3 items.

Please support it.

1: About control of LED current.

When using constant current method instead of PWM method,

may pulse component mix in the current?

2: About I2C communication between the LP8863 and the micro-controller

Is there a way to change the address of the slave(multiple LP8863 - Q1)?

3: About EVM. We already have an LP8863EVM.

We were using the EVM but it could not boost of the EVM.

When the supply voltage is raised to 24V, the LED starts flashing at about 3 Hz.

  Which parts were broken?

Do you have susceptible breakable parts?

  • Hi,

    1. If PWM duty cycle is 100%, there's will be no pulse component in the current.
    2. When I2C communication is used, the I2C bus can support 2 LP8863 devices. The SS_ADDRSEL pin selects between the two devices.
    3. I'm not sure what is the problem according to your description. The EVM may not be damaged. What is your setting? What is the LED string voltage and current? It would be better if you can share some waveforms. Thanks.
