Part Number: TPS50601A-SP

When calculating the compensation values (C1, C2 and R3) for parallel operation, the datasheet states to use the calculations for a single design and then the parallel design will be a factor of 2. Does this mean I should multiply or divide the single calculated values by 2 for the new parallel value? What if I have 4 devices in parallel?

  • Hi Michael, it means that the factor of 2 needs to be included for the charging currents and the transconductances. Take for example the SS capacitor, since in parallel operation you have 2 devices but one capacitor, the charging current when calculating the capacitor value should be 2x (or 3x, 4x if you have more than 2 devices in parallel). In the case of the transconductances, since there is also only one set of compensation components driven by the master, there will be 2x gmea and 2x gmps when calculating R3.

    Thanks,
