TPS62130: TPS62130 Switch frequency question

Part Number: TPS62130

hi sir,

my customer using TPS62130 for 5v to 4.12v  buck application, the IMAX is 2A in their design. now customer find two question, they want to know the reason

    1. when the output current from 100mA to 1.8A, they find that the frequency of SW pin will change from 1.38MHZ to 200KHZ, could you please help to check if this is normal ?

    2. when the output current is 200mA, They found that the peak to peak  voltage of SW pin will rush to 5.6V, This is why, is it normal?

  • Hello,
regarding your first question, you can have a look in figure 25 of the datasheet to see the relationship between the switching frequency and the load current. When the load is small, the IC automatically works in Power save mode (PFM). About the second question, you can see figure 43 of the datasheet to observe the behavior of the switching node and Vout in PFM.
