TPS22810: Inquiry about PWM control

Hi Team

My customer wants to control 6 ~ 7V / 1A power at 20khz.

Is the TPS22810 capable of 20khz PWM control?

If not, please suggest a possible solution.

And is not the TPS22810 for Automotive?

There is a TPS22810-Q1 on the TI site, but it's not on the E2E.

    Thanks for reaching out on E2E and being patient as many of us are returning from holidays!

    Can you provide more details on the output load you are driving? Are you driving an inductive load, a relay, or LEDs?

    If an inductive load is being driven, the TPS22810 is unable to withstand the negative transients from the load (abs min rating is only -0.3V), so the device is not recommended for inductive switching. 

    For driving inductive loads, you could take a look at our low side drivers such as the TPL7407LA or the DRV103.

    It will be used for driving the haptic motor.
    Previously we applied TPS1H100-Q1.
    However, the pattern function is added, requiring 20Khz control.
    For this reason, we are reviewing other solutions.
    Please suggest a suitable solution.
    Please propose Q-100 certified product.

    Unfortunately the TPS22810-Q1 can't drive an inductive load due to the internal body diode being biased incorrectly during inductive kickback. At 20Khz, you're correct and our high-side switches can't operate at high frequencies.


    I'm looping in our Motor Drive team to comment if they have any Q-100 solutions for this application.

    There are several devices to consider, although the 6V to 7V operation may prevent use of two.
    1) The DRV8873-Q1 operates between 4.5 and 38V, and is available with either a hardware or SPI interface.
    2) The DRV8801A-Q1 operates between 6.5V and 36V.
    3) The DRV8872-Q1 operates between 6.8V and 45V, and contains an internal charge pump to minimize the component count.

    At 6V to 7V, the DRV8873-Q1 is the preferred option.
    If the voltage can be raised to 12V, any of the three should work.
