UCC2897A: Question about reference design-PMP5123

Part Number: UCC2897A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PMP5123,

Does PMP5123 cater to an input of 10 V dc to 50 V dc for an output of 12V/10.

  • Hi kartheek,

I will look into this question, please give me a day to answer for I am on New Year's Day holiday.

    Regards,
    Teng
  • Hi kartheek,

PMP5123 design solution can be used for an input of 10 V dc to 50 V dc and an output of 12V/10 design, but if do so, there is a need to redesign magnetic components, device parameter and reselect the power Mos.

    Teng
  • Hi Teng Feng,

Can you please suggest the changes need to be done in the design
     for 12V/10A output.

    Regards

    G Kartheek

  • Hi Kartheek,

If PMP5132 EVM circuit is redesigned for an input of 10V to 50V input and 12V/10A output application. Many component parameters and power devices need to be redesigned and reselected to ensure that it works.
The changes include, but are not limited to, the following points:
    1. The different output power and input voltage will lead to a different circuit current and voltage, it needs to check or reselected the power devices including diodes and power mos, and redesign the magnetic components.
    2. It need to check that the signals of which pins will change and then change the component parameters to make sure that they are working properly.
    3. With the different input voltage range, you should check and ensure the start-up circuit circuit, the bias voltage, LINEOV, LINUV and input-overvoltage protection.
    ............
So it's not a simple change, I suggest you'd better first to be familiar with UCC2897a and entire PMP5123 design, and the use of every circuit parts.

    Regards,
    Teng
