TLV702: Connecting a 5V to TLV70230's output pin

Part Number: TLV702

Hi Team,

My customer wants to know what kind of damage will cause to TLV70230 if connecting a 5V to its output pin. The condition happens when programming the MCU which has a wide supply range from 2.7V to 5V.

The nominal input voltage is 3.5V and output voltage is 3.0V

Thanks and best regards,

Victor

  • Hi Victor,

The risk of damage comes from reverse current when Vout exceeds Vin.  The TLV702 does have a body diode that will conduct during this condition; however, this diode is a parasitic diode and there is no current limiting for reverse current.

    Very Respectfully,

    Ryan
