if you hammer the i2c bus with reads, this may happen. this can also happen during gauge reset or initialization. otherwise, this will not happen.

Hi Batt.

you mean that if the reading is so frequent, maybe the Gauge IC feedback SOC 0%?

what is the Max. reading frequency allowned?

You don't need to read the registers more than once a second as that's the rate at which they are refreshed.
