Hi,

I'm looking for the way to build a constant-current source in automotive application. Figure 18 of LM317 datasheet is a classic technique but I don't see the automotive spin off available yet. Could you please help to recommend some other automotive LDO that could source ~20mA current at maximum 18V Vout?

    Hi Peiheng,

    Traditional linear regulators are designed to regulate the output voltage rather than the output current. Please consider TPS7B7701 which has an adjustable current limit that will allow you to set the maximum current through the regulator.
