TPS2373: Implement additional features

Part Number: TPS2373
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-050023

Hi
My customers are currently working on circuit development with the following specifications.
-. TI PD .bt Interface: TPS2373-4RGW (20-VQFN) / 1-Point
-. TI ACT IC: UCC2897ARGPR (20-QFN) / 1-Point

PD input condition: 44.3V ~ 57V (condition specified in S-specification)
Load condition: 12V / 3.33A (40W)

I want to implement the following three functions as an additional function.
detail of fuction
1) Check the water level of the upper PSE in the PD Module (802.3at or 802.3bt)
2) Transfer the power of the upper PSE identified in the PD Module to the CPU
3) After receiving the PSE water supply information from the CPU,

  • Hello,

For your 12V PD solution, I highly recommend the TIDA-050023 which is a Type 3 12V solution. Please see below link to the schematic and test report.

For the negotiation between the PSE and CPU downstream, yes it is possible for the microcontroller on the PSE switch and the PD's CPU to communicate through the data lines. This is called LLDP in the PoE standard.

So if an AT PSE (that is capable of higher) is connected to the PD, it will have to negotiate higher power through LLDP. For a BT PSE Type 3 and 4, it is required to do hardware classification, so LLDP is not necessary but can be used if you want to fine tune the PSE output power allocation.

Please let me know if this is clear. Thanks!
