D6 is a fast diode to suppress potential transients of PACK+ below PACK-. While D5 has a forward characteristic, its primary intent is to avoid overly positive voltages. D6 is expected to turn on faster and have a lower Vf than D5.
Of course evaluate the needs of your system and provide appropriate transient suppression.
