LM3481: Spice model parameters

Part Number: LM3481
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Hello,

I'm using LM3481 to control a DCM sepic converter. Te spice model of the LM3481 contains the "VCOMP" parameter, I don't know which value should I enter to make it work properly. I have left the default value "72m", and the simulation worked well in the boost mode, but the controller stops operating in the buck mode. The design parameters are Vin=8~16V, Vout=15V, Pout= 150mW~3W. I think the VCOMP parameter impacts the OCP, that's why the converter stops. please could you explain the "VCOMP" parameter utility?

Thank you

  • Hi Ajouhy,

FYI, one of our team member will take a look at this.

  • Hi,

The VCOMP parameter is used to pass some initial conditions to device, this helps model to reach steady state faster when parameter SS=1. So, for normal startup operation (when SS=0) this parameter has no role in device.

I am not sure if the LM3481 Pspice model is validated for Sepic configuration. The issue could be because of something else, not the VCOMP parameter. Could you please share your project/test bench? I will test it and get back to you.

  • Hi Ajouhy,

Since we have not heard from you for a while, we assume that somehow you have resolved your issue. We will be closing this post. However, if you still need further help, please do no hesitate to reply to this post. Also please provide Saket with the project file he requested so that he can assist you further.

  • Hi Theodorus,

I have simulated my converter circuit on TINA-TI and It works as it should. The problem I had is probably with the spice model, because It did work only when I have added the uncrypted spice model of LM3481 to my design in TINA-TI. Thank you very much for your support.
