External super cap for switching regulator

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS62147

The capacitor is connected in the following fashion:

The value of C1 is 100mF and is rated at 5V (A super-capacitor) with an ESR of 1.25 ohms @ 1kHz. Kindly help us understand how this capacitor will affect the stability of the Switching regulator and what design changes have to be incorporated to stabilize the switching regulator.

  • Hello,
the use of the supercap does not give problems. You can read the following documents to see the effects of feedforward capacitor to improve the stability and how to measure the control loop.
