BQ76200: max cells number limit

Part Number: BQ76200

hi all,

is the bq76200 suitable for an 18 cells pack?

as the companion parts are 15 cells limited it creates some confusion sometimes...

the bq76200 (standalon) is 100V rated, so as long as Vpack <100V should be fine, correct?

thanks a lot in advance

KR

Vincenzo

  • Hi Vincenzo,

The recommended maximum voltage for the BAT and PACK pins on the bq76200 is limited to 75V, so the part will still meet specifications up to this level. If you go above this level, then the part may not function as specified. The absolute maximum level is specified as 100V, and only with the charge pump disabled. Note the absolute maximum limit is not where the part should be designed for normal operation, it is best to focus on the recommended operating conditions table.

There isn't a direct limitation in the number of cells, in that you could potentially have a battery chemistry with low voltage per cell and use more than 15 cells, as long as you adhere to the voltage limits.

    Thanks,

    Terry
