May TPS2379 can replace MAX5981B?

    Hello Chen. It is nice to hear from you again.

    If your customer requires the deep sleep mode feature, the TPS23752 is the best cross reference solution. A good reference design to share in that case, in order to get more detailed feedback from the customer on what they need, is www.ti.com/.../PMP9013.

    If the deep sleep mode feature is not required, the next question to ask is whether or not >25.5W is required.

    If not, the TPS2378 becomes a better fit as it offers the adapter priority input feature and is a PD-only device.

    If >25.5W is required, then you need to ask if IEEE802.3bt interoperability is required.

    If IEEE802.3bt interoperability is important, the TPS2372-3 (non-isolated) or TPS2373-3 (isolated) are your best fits.

    If IEEE802.3bt interoperability is not important, TPS2379 is a good potential fit.

    In short, the customer's specifications matter much more than the current IC solution in this case so please learn more about what the customer needs in their design window and feel free to reach out to us again!
