TPS65177: VGL problem

Part Number: TPS65177

Hi team,

Our customer find that the VGL voltage of TPS65177  can’t be scaled to below 7.9V (absolute value). Could you please help me with this problem?

Thanks and best regards,

Ella

  • Hi Ella,

  • Ella,

I believe you meant above -7.9V  like -7.3V etc. If so, I can think of two issues that can prohibit VGL not going above -7.9V:

    1.  -7.9V is the default programmed VGL voltage in the device and one reason for it not going above this level is simple: there may be an issue with the I2C serial communication in the system and desired value may not be getting written to the device properly.

    2. The other issue could be that the circuit is designed not to go a higher level than -7.9V. Please refer to design procedure excerpt below from datasheet and ensure that maximum ceiling is not designed at -7.9V.

    Kind Regards,

    Liaqat
