TPS65930 Charge Pump/Vbus Enable and Current Source Capability

What current can the VBUS pin support on the TPS65930? It looks like the charge pump is limited to 450mA, but in other places it mentions 100mA. Also, how do you enable VBUS (or the charge pump)? Is it autodetect?

Hi,

VBUS can support max of 100 mA. The 450 mA that you see is the current value used for Short Circuit Protection.

Detection of a device ( USB Plug ) is automatic. Charge pump needs to be enabled using OTG_CTRL register bit "5". This is DRVVBUS bit which is "0" by default which means Charge pump is NOT enabled. "1" needs to be written to enable Charge pump.

Hi,

Is there any possibility of getting 400 - 500 mA current through VBUS, if I am increasing capacitor value in charge pump?

No, you cannot do this. Restrictions are due to USB specs and design has to satisfy the specs.
