BQ34110: Reference design rarely discharged battery (power backup)

Part Number: BQ34110

Hi There,

we're working on a design that will have a primary power supply and uses a Li-Ion/LiPo battery to compensate for very occasional power drops. We want our products to be able to operate for 10 years without battery replacement. we can accept batteries that have a higher capacity then is strictly necessary for the duration of power loss. We want to support batteries up to 10.000mAh. I'm thinking about using the Bq34110 as a fuel gauge. Do you have any recommendations for a charger IC? I can't seem to find a reference design for our specific purpose.

Can you also give me tips how to charge a battery for optimum battery life (charge speed and maintaining maximum charge level is not an issue for us)?

Best regards,

Jeroen van der Laan
