LM46001: Total quiescent current during operation at no load

Part Number: LM46001

Hello,

We’re using the LM46001 in an application and were reviewing the quiescent current spec more closely.

  • There is an 85uA_typ (140uA max) specification for Vbias “non-switching"
  • But then also calls out 24uA typical for “operating quiescent current (switching)”.

How can the non-switching Iq be higher than switching?

What is the total quiescent current we can expect during switching operation at no load?

Thank you very much, Keith

  • Hello,

The IBIAS specification refers to the current draw by the BIAS pin when powered by an external voltage source.  The Iq-nonsw spec is the current draw by the input pin (VIN).  The datasheet recommends tying the BIAS pin to the output if VOUT>3.3V.

The typical no load current in operation is 24uA typical when BIAS is tied to VOUT as described below:

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or if anything is unclear.

    Best Regards,
