TPS659037: Thermal runaway under high temperature condition

Hi,

First of all, this question is just only concern, not actual issue in evaluation.

I know that the recommended maximum junction temperature is 125 degC, and TPS659037 can operate with full load without no thermal runaway if the junction temperature is less than 125 degC. Is my understanding correct?

Yes, your understanding is correct. But, if the device operates with full load without heat dissipation, the junction temperature is going to be higher than 125 degC soon or later. Conceptually, there is always thermal runaway when environment temperature is lower than the device package temperature. Please refer to attached Application Note for more details.
