TPS63051: Reduce output ripple

Hi again, I placed a 220 uF capacitor on Vout and the output voltage ripple has been reduce to 5 mVp.

In the datasheet (page 15) the maximum value that it's recommended as output capacitor it's 100 uF with a 1.5 uF inductor. Could it be any problem with 220 uF capacitor?

Do you think it be better to use a 2.2 uH inductor with 220 uF output capacitor in order to reduce voltage ripple? Could you recommend some inductor/capacitors to reduce the ripple?

I'm thinking about using an 2.2 uH as well.

What do you think about these inductors? Are they suitable?
- XEL4020-222MEC
- DFE322512F-2R2M=P2

Coilcraft one has 38.7 mOhms DCR and Murata's 66 mOhms. Do you think TPS63051 would have much better efficiency with Coilcraft inductor than with Murata's? I prefer Murata inductor in terms of footprint area and price, but if the efficiency was much better with the other inductor, I think I would choose it.

Hi Marcelino,

it is hard to judge which one is better. The one with lower DCR tends to be better, but it might not always be true. AC losses can also play a big role here.
Best would be to measure this. However i don't have the coils available at hand.

Finally I'll use XFL4020-152MEC inductor and the output capacitors will be a parallel of 2x100 uF, 1x47 uF and 1x10 uF, in order to reduce ESR and lowering the ripple. 

What do you think about this solution?
