TPS61193-Q1: current limit function in DC-DC converter block

Part Number: TPS61193-Q1

Dear all,

I would like to check my understanding about the current limit in converter function.

If output current reach to 2A, current limit repeats 3 seconds limitation (including 2A for 1.5s and 2.5A for 1.5s).

In other words, this current limit function does not make DCDC converter shutdown. This function just hold DCDC converter active through 2A and 2.5A.

Is my understanding correct?

Best regards,

  • Hi,

Firstly, I'd like to clarify that the current limit does not refer to the output current. It is the Boost switching FET current.
Your understanding is right. It does not shutdown the boost converter completely if the current limit is hit. It just turns off the FET in each switching cycle when the switching current reaches the current limit.
