WEBENCH® Tools/UCC2803: UCC2803/Flyback Reference design

Part Number: UCC2803
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC2805

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi Team,

Requirement:
  1. I/P voltage = 9V to 32V
  2. O/P Voltage =15 V
  3. O/P Current = 2A Nominal
  4. O/P Regulation = ±1%
  5. Isolated Power Supply

With respect to the above specifications, I have used "UCC2803".

Could you please share the reference design for that meeting all requirements.

Also, please share the design calculation sheet for the same part.

Waiting for your quick reply!

Thanks,

BR,

Mukesh Kesarwani

  • Hi Mukesh,

Webench suggests the UCC2805 which is from the same family of controllers as the UCC2803 but its limited to 50% duty cycle whereas the UCC2803 has a higher duty cycle capability.

I have checked our reference library and I cant see a close match to your requirements.

I suggest you use the Webench design based on the UCC2805 as a starting point for your prototype. TI also has the power stage designer tool which calculates the power stage voltages and currents and gives a good starting point for the designs.

    www.ti.com/.../POWERSTAGE-DESIGNER

The tool can be used to design a number of topologies and it also has a section on control loop design.

The TI library has a number of articles on power supply design which can be found here, www.ti.com/.../login.shtml

Section 10.2.1 of the UCC2805 datasheet goes through an flyback design and gives the equations involved in the design process.

    Regards
