BQ24297: About BC1.2 Data contact detection

Part Number: BQ24297

Hi,

Could you tell me about bq24297 data contact detection?
The following contents are described in the data sheet page19.

However, If it follows the standard of BC1.2,
”SDP or CDP or DCP" should be judged based on whether it is Low(0V to 0.8V) for over 40 ms within 0.5 sec.
Is my understanding correct?

Best Regards,
Yusuke

  • Yusuke,

After DCD detects D+/D- wires are plugged-in and 500ms timer hasn't expired, it will proceed to primary detection. The primary detection is used to distinguish between USB host (Standard Down Stream Port, or SDP) and different type of charging ports (Charging Down Stream Port, or CDP, and Dedicated Charging Port, or DCP).

    Thanks,

    Ning.

  • Ning-san,

Thank you for your kind support.
There is one more thing I would like to ask you.
Customer set delay time to start re-detection DCD to 2sec.
On that background, detection errors may occur depending on the connection status of the hub.

About the period when D+/D- becomes Hi-Z after connecting the hub to the PC,
Is there a time regulation to pull down D+/D- after Vbus rise?
Please tell me if you know the standard information.

    Best Regards,
    Yusuke

  • Yusuke,

D+/D- pins will be HIZ once the input current detection is complete.

    Thanks,

    Ning.
