TPS65105: REF pin status in FAULT mode

hi,

we are using TPS65105 in a medical design...

we need to detects when a protection puts the IC into fault (studown) mode...

so we were considering to monitor REF pin, assuming it goes low in this state...

is my understanding correct? is there a better way, alternatively?

Hello Vicenzo,

VREF stays up as long as input supply is available and enable input (EN) to the device is active. Device shutdown due to a fault condition will not make VREF go low. I would suggest to monitor one of the power supply outputs of the device (VO1, VO2, VO3) instead as the voltage on these rails will go down during shutdown.
