UCC28056: maximum output power

Part Number: UCC28056
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28180

What level is the maximum output power of UCC28056?

According to datasheet, it is up to 300W.

Can we use UCC28056 for 350W  or 400W output circuit?

Best Regards,

The 300W limit on UCC28056 datasheet is a guideline, it is not a hard limit. UCC28056 can work up to 350W or 400W output.

The challenge for UCC28056 is that it is transition mode, so as the power levels exceed 300W the ripple current thru the inductor becomes large enough where it starts causing excessive loss and limits performance. CCM PFC controller like UCC28180 has much lower current ripple, so they do not have this issue and makes them more popular at this power level.
