LM22676: Short circuit protection

While doing the short circuit test of the circuit built with LM22676, it is observed that the LM22676 IC gets damaged(short). Circuit used for testing is same as the typical application circuit mentioned in the datasheet. Enable pin is kept floating. Similar test is also done with IC LM2596, the IC doesnt get damage.

Hello Satish,

Usually devices fail in short circuit [protection due to selection of inductor that has an Isat rating less than the max peak current limit of the device being used.

In the case of the LM22676 the max peak current limit can be as high as 5.5A. Please ensure your Isat of your inductor is equal to or greater than 5.5A. if not, please install inductor and retest, if this is the case, this will resolve your issue. If not, please let me know?
