Can i use the current sense pins of the IC to measure output current using sense resistor. In the description it is given that peak switch current, May i know the correct function of the current sense pins.

    What power supply topology do you intend to use the UC3846 in ?

    The UC3846 is designed to provide cycle by cycle current mode control of the power stage and it needs to monitor the primary side switch current to do this.

    There area number of technical articles on current mode control in the TI power supply design library such as

    TI has a large number of PWM controllers, if you give me your application details like input voltage range and output voltage and current I may be able to recommend another controller or TI reference design.

    I have choosen full bridge topology since my power rating is nearly 1.5kw. input voltage is 230 V ,50 hz and output voltage is 54.6 V , current is 25 A. I need the feedback from the output so i can switch to suitable mode (CCCV) using controller

    Hi Satya,

    You will need a two stage design, Power Factor (PFC) front end + Phase Shifted Full Bridge (PSFB) dc/dc isolation stage. The PFC can be used to generate a 380V to 400V DC voltage and the PSFB can be used to step the voltage down through an isolation transformer.

    The UCC28180 is an 8 pin CCM PFC controller which can be used up 10kW and the UCC28070 is a two channel interleaved CCM PFC which is also suitable for high power PFC designs.

    The UCC28951 is the latest version of the PSFB controller and is very popular in this application space especially for CV and CC modes of control.
