BQ51013B: RX antenna tuning problems

Part Number: BQ51013B

hi,

we are making a Qi receiver based on BQ51013BR.

In our setup Rx antenna is attached to LiPo battery.

As antenna is smaller than the battery, it is detuned ( even though it has a ferrit backshielding ).

This is something we expected: in the datasheet it is mentioned to use Ls' values instead of Ls.

Unfortunately there is no link to app note on how to perform such measurements (if we don't have RLC meter).

Do you know any application note on the subject?

thanks a lot in advance

KR

  • Hello KR
The L value of the RX coil will change due to metal around it and the TX coil. L value give by the manufacture is free air. Without an RLC meter turning will be difficult.
The procedure for taking the Ls' measurement is in section 9.2.1.2.2 of the data sheet. It will require and RLC meter set to 100kHz and 1V RMS. TX simulator is required, this is a ferrite shield 50mm X 50mm.
