Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , , UC2846, UC2846M
Greetings,
I am trying to find out what differences there are between "variants" of the UC1846. This includes the UC1846-EP, UC1846-SP and UC1846-M. I received a response from Jenny Liu out of China, but we are not clear on whether there is a physical difference or simply some are tested to different specifications. Directly below is the answer I received from Jenney. Further below is my return message/inquiry to her this morning.
HER INITIAL RESPONSE:
" With regards to your inquiry, firstly, uc1846 and uc2846 are make exactly the same. The testing limits are the only difference. The uc1846 is tested to tighter tolerances so that the device can operate within its specifications over the wider operational temperature range.
uc1846-EP is enhanced product of uc1846, you could see the reliability report through below link. https://www.ti.com/seclit/rr/sgzk067/sgzk067.pdf
uc1846-SP is the space level product, it has good performance in anti-radiation. Radiation test report as follows:www.ti.com/.../snaa274.pdf
uc2846M's rating is military, you could select right product according to your application field. Thanks. Hope this helpful to you.
Best Regards,
Jenny Lu"
MY FOLLOW-UP E-MAIL TO HER:
"I am following up to your response on our inquiry.
We are a little confused regarding testing related to the three categories, EP, SP and M. This is because all three are exactly the same part per your statement, .
First, our reliability engineers are asking this, “Is 1846-EP made the same way as all the other chips? If so why would it be any more reliable? Is there a high level of production screening? The attached report (https://www.ti.com/seclit/rr/sgzk067/sgzk067.pdf) is a design qualification report not a production screening report.
What is the enhancement for this, “uc1846-EP is enhanced product of uc1846.” Is it a different design?”
Is the SP version irradiated then tested? If so, how do you know if the radiation has not affected lifetime of the part?"
Does anyone have an answer for these questions? I really appreciate it.
Best,
Ben
