TPS546C23: output current reading is different from real current draw

Team,

we observe a problem with TPS546C23 - the value of the output current that we read from TPS546C23RVFT is way off from the current that we draw with load.

The other problem is that value from the register of output current is changing with input voltage while keeping output voltage and output current the same. Differences that we get are not changing linearly so we can't solve this problem just with offset.

We have prepared design files to share offline.

How much is it off? The spec may be as high as +/- 15% or +/- 3 A depending on the condition.

Hi John,

Readings are off between 1A and 3A. Do you think that it's acceptable for evaluation of this ic?

Bartosz,

Yes, the current reading may be off by up to 3A. See the datasheet EC table for the tolerance range for different current levels. I will forward your schematic to the person who directly supports TPS546C23 for review.
