Output discharge of TPS565208

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS565208

We have a question about TPS565208.

We try to use external resistor of output discharge in output side.

Can we use external resistor of output discharge in output side?

Please tell us the recommended  value or range if we can use external resistor if output discharge.

Best regards,

Takahiro Nishizawa

  • Hi Takahiro,

Yes you can use external resistor as dummy load to discharge Vout quickly at light load.

There is not much limit on the resistor value. It is like load resistor. The IC works fine as long as the total load current (normal load current + Vout / external dummy load) is smaller than 5A.

The lower the resistor value, the Vout will be discharged more quickly, but the efficiency will be lower.
