    Hello Steven,

    This section of the schematic is designed to limit the input voltage of the TPS54340 to approximately 40 V. There is the possibility of high voltages on the input of this circuit causing a high voltage on the gate of Q2. D100 prevents the voltage of Q2’s gate from exceeding 15 V below Q2's source and also preventing voltage more than a diode drop above Q2's source on Q2's gate.
