TPS65185: Powering down

Part Number: TPS65185

Hi,

We are in processes of designing an power management system for Epaper display based on TPS65185.

Our device turn on PMIC only for short time by providing power to VB_SW and VIN_P. Question remain on external 3V3 supply. Since VIN3P3 is only an input to power switch (from schematic application)

Can it be left connected to 3V3 power supply when rest of IC is unpowered? Or is there any disadvantage to such solution and it should be disconnected as well when PMIC is not used?

Any feedback in this mater will be appreciated.

Kind regards

Pawel

  • Hi Pawel,

V3P3 is an optional load switch. Disconnecting the rail could help some systems extend battery life by minimizing quiescent currents in the display. Both pins can be left floating if a load switch is not necessary for your system.

If the load switch is utilized, VIN3P3 would remain connected to the system supply without issue.

    Best Regards,
