TPS59641: how to know the full load power dissipation of TPS59641

Part Number: TPS59641
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CSD97395Q4M

Hi,

My customer wondering how to calculate the maximum power dissipation of this part.

Can you help to comment?

Please let me know if further information needed.

Great thanks for your help.

  • Hello,

Estimate the TPS59641 power dissipation as:

Pd = (FET Driver power dissipation for phases using the internal drivers) + (IC power dissipation)

    Pd = Sum_of_all_phases([QgHFET + QgLFET] × Fsw × Vdrive) + (V5 × Iq)

    Where:

QgHFET is high side MOSFET total gate charge.

QgLFET is high side MOSFET total gate charge.

    Fsw is per-phase switching frequency

    Vdrive is V5Drive voltage ~5.0v

    V5 is V5 voltage ~5V

Iq is quiescent current listed in the datasheet.

  • Hi Matt,

Thanks for letting us know how to calculate the Pd.

After checking with Rd about this case, there are few question to confirm with you:

    1. We are currently using CSD97395Q4M as the power stage, may I ask that how can we find the Qg from power stage or if you can give us some comment when using power stage?

    2. We also unable to find the Iq for TPS59641RSLTR can you help to let us know what should be the Iq of this part.

Great thanks for your help .
