TPS22918: Discharge timing

Part Number: TPS22918

Hello,

My customer have a question below.

If the voltages of ① and ② become 0 V at the same time, will the discharge function function normally?

When Von becomes Low, will the discharge function work regardless of a state of VIN?

Regards,

Taichi Nakamura

  • Hi Nakamura-san,

The QOD functionality consists of an internal FET which is driven by VIN. With low VIN, Vgs becomes low, so the RQOD becomes higher. You can refer to Figure 7 in the datasheet for more information.

If VIN decays quickly to less than 1V, then the QOD functionality cannot be guaranteed, since the resistance could be infinite. If VIN decays slowly and remains above 1V while decaying, then the QOD functionality will work and could discharge the output.

In general, our load switches need VIN to be present for QOD to function.

    Thanks,

    Arthur Huang
