Hi admin,

I am using a battery fuel gauge (BQ27542-G1) and battery charger (BQ24295) for my battery charging and monitoring application.

What I am concerning is the different charging current for different kinds of battery, when I use same charging configuration in battery charger chip.

My question is that does the fuel gauge have some kinds of parameter or algorithm to control the limit of charging current for battery? I have checked in data sheet and manual of the gauge but nothing is mentioned.

Hi Duong,
You are the one that sets the charging current and voltage in the gauge. The gauge does not automatically set that. The charger has to read that register to set its charging voltage and current or the charger can be configured for its own charging voltage and current.

Thank Onyx, could you let me know which register in the gauge that controls charging current.?

I can find it in the charger datasheet, but not from the gauge side.

You set those via the JEita settings under the configuration tab of the data memory window of bqstudio. Bqstudio lists the subclass id for those, their data length and block offset number.
