TPS2121: Questions related to datasheet

Part Number: TPS2121

Hello

I am evaluating about XCOMP mode using TPS2121EVM-023.

>condition Vin1=3.3V Vin2=5.0V

When Vin1 falls dramatically(fall time < 1ms) , Vout rises to 5 V after becoming 0 V.
> Vout : 3.3V -> 0V -> 5V
But When Vin1 falls slowly(fall time >= 1ms) , it switches to normal .
> Vout : 3.3V -> 5V
Is this working correctly ?

  • Hi Suzuki-san,

    Thanks for reaching out on E2E!

    Can you comment on your control pin resistors? At what voltage does IN1 switch to IN2? Are you using fast switchover?

    At first glance, the device is working correctly. Depending on various operating conditions, including load resistance/capacitance, load current, and switchover time, the device could drop to 0V due to the load. You can calculate the voltage dip using this calculation:

    Vdip = tsw * (Iout / Cout)

    You can also learn more about these calculations in our TPS2121 TI Design, Seamless Switchover Reference Design

    Thanks,

    Arthur Huang
