BQ25703A: BC1.2 protocol chip

Part Number: BQ25703A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25703, BQ24392

Hi team,

My customer is evaluating our BQ25703. The board has two kinds of input source. One is 5V input ans the other option is 9V input. The battery is 2 cells in series. So customer wants to find a Buck-Boost charger and I promote BQ25703.

When the 5V input is present, customer wants to realize BC1.2 communication with our charger charger but none of our Buck-Boost charger has the D+D- interface. So I just want to check with you if we have a device that can be used as the BC1.2 protocol chip between the input 5V source and BQ25703? Thanks.

Best regards,

Wayne

  • Hey Wayne,

There is not direct device that will program the correct input current limit for the Buck-Boost chargers in our portfolio. You will need to detect the USB port type through your controller and then make the appropriate change in the Input Current Limit register on the charger.

You can realize the detection using the BQ24392 SPST USB switch and BC1.2 Detection chip in conjuction with your controlling MCU and buck-boost charger in order to achieve a similar behavior.
