LMG1205: Vdd present before Vin

Part Number: LMG1205
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5109, LM5109B

Team,

my customer has experience with gate drivers and often sees issues with Vin being present before Vdd (in general).

Can you explain if this is also true for LMG1205?
Basically, the question is if they need to pay attention to power sequencing or not.

Is there any hint in the datasheet for this?

Thanks!

  • Hi Franziskus,

    Thanks for reaching out us.

We have not observed it with this driver. This driver is equipped with UVLO feature on both the high and low-side FETs preventing  the driver from turning-on until VDD has sufficient voltage to drive the FETs. Section 7.3.2 in the datasheet addresses this topic.

Also setion 6.1 of the driver's EVM user's guide (link below) gives recommendations on power up/down sequencing.

Did the customer experience this with another one of our driver?

Please let us know if you further questions or press the green button if this addressed your inquiry.

  • Hi Mamadou,
    thanks for your feedback!
My customer has experienced this with LM5109 and we have released LM5109B to address this topic.
    Thanks!
