BQ40Z50-R1: The RSOC profile of bq 40z50 abrupt change

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: GPCRB

Dear all

There is a problem with RSOC profile with bq 40 z 50 - R 1.

- phenomenon-
RSOC rapidly changes from 16% to 0% at the time of discharge at 0 ° C. environment.

Battery cell is ING 18650 B 4 made by LG.
The chemical ID is set to 0230.

Please tell me the possible causes.

Best regards

  • At 0C, we do expect a drop in RSOC just because of low self heating in Li ion cells that leads to higher internal resistance leading to lower terminal voltage. This is characteristic of a Li ion cell. In the R1, if you have smoothing enabled a jump to 0 is also allowed depending on load and other factors. These are two reasons why you may have a jump. If you want to optimize your application for low temperature operation, please use the GPCRB tool.
