LMZM33606: Switching Between Auto and FPWM Modes

Part Number: LMZM33606

Hi,

My customer is planning to use the LMZM33606 in an inverting configuration (12Vin, -12Vout) and they want forced PWM mode. Could they just tie the SYNC/MODE pin to a resistor divider between Vout and GND (0V and -12V)? Since -12V won't be present right at startup, it looks like it would start in Auto mode and move into FPWM mode once it crosses the threshold. Is this correct, or does the device stay at the mode that it detects at start-up regardless of further transitions at the SYNC pin?

Thanks,

Antonio

  • Hi Antonio,

During startup, the device will start up in diode emulation. After the soft-start time the device will transition into FPWM. This is the normal expected startup behavior. You can tie SYNC/MODE pin to Pin 9 VCC to have the device in FPWM.

    Regards,
