TLC5947: What is the purpose of the Zener diode in the P-MOS line scan circuit?

Hi,

I want to design a LED matrix by using TLC5947 24-CH LED driver in 3.3V.

But I don't know what is the purpose of the Zener diode in the P-MOS line scan circuit?

And how to decide the Zener spec according to different VLED? which in my case is 3.3V
