TPS61162: TPS61162D compensation cap limitation

Part Number: TPS61162

Hi expert,

My customer is asking why we can only use 330nF or 470nF for TPS61162D compensation cap. Could we explain why we can only use 330nF or 470nF for it? Is that related with below control loop DC level or compared voltage threshold? LED is not working if we use 330pF as compensation cap. Thanks a lot!

Best rgeards,

Ann Lien

  • Hi, Ann,

Proper engineer has been assigned to take a look at this and will reply you soon.

Due to Chinese new year holidays, response maybe delayed.

    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Hi Ann,
For TPS61162,it's a peak current control boost converter, our designer has designed the control loop with external compensation cap, 330nF is not exactlly necessary and best suitable value, but 330nF and 470 has been designed and validated as the balanced value. It can meet most case and application, this typical value can let the most control loop stable. But in some special application(it really depends on the real application), you can adjust the value, but you can choose the 330nF or 470nF as the first step and adjust around this value with measurement.
