TLV760: Do we have any data which shows relationship between "Cin,Cout" and "TLV760" to see its operation correctly.

Part Number: TLV760

Hi, Team.

I've been asked by Customer.

Do we have any data which shows relationship between "Cin,Cout" and "TLV760" to see its operation correctly.

customer wants to see how much minimum and maximum C our IC can operate properly by seeing the data.

do we have ?

and how much Cin(min, max), Cout(min, max) do you think that would be ok to use for stability

  • Hi Masaharu Takahashi,

As explained in the Application and Implementation section of the datasheet, a minimum of 0.1 uF is required on the input and output for stability. There is no upper limit on the input or output capacitance for stability:

However, increasing the output capacitor will affect the regulator's transient response. Figures 21 through 24 of the datasheet provide some examples of the transient response for the TLV760 with various output capacitors and load steps:

For larger output capacitors, the best approach is to prototype the design with the desired capacitors and apply a worst-case load transient test to determine if the transient response is acceptable for the application. The following application note explains how a regulator's load transient response relates to its control loop stability: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva381b/slva381b.pdf

    Thanks,
