Q :
We are using UPLI interface to connect to OMAP3503.
In TPS3503 layout guide, it has been mentioned to use 90 ohms impedance adaptive bus.
Is 90 ohms really required? Can we do with 50 ohms impedance trace provided we able to maintain signal requirement for ULPI interface (rise time overshoot undershoot as require in datasheet as per ibis simulations). It will be difficult to obtain 90 ohm single ended traces on board.
A :
This is a mobile chip and mobile requirement is to have 90 Ohm impedence. It is a non-traditional value but can be achieved on board. However, TIF design team has done simulations with 60 Ohm, as well as analysed it and shown that the particular design on their borad is OK.
