BQ27520EVM: External temp sensor seems to be required to get a successful ENABLE_IT

Part Number: BQ27520EVM

Hi,

I am working on getting a bq27520 setup on a embedded device.  I have completed the ChemID determination, Learning cycle, and Firmware Binary generation with an EVM.  I have programmed the embedded devices with the updated firmware binary, but seen that the SOC is either always 0 or 100%.

I have configured the device to use the internal temperature sensor since the end system does not have a temperature sensor.  (The bq27520 device is in close proximity to the battery pack.)  For the bq27520 on the module, when I send the command IT_ENABLE, QEN does not get set.  I have tested this on the EVM, and when I remove the temperature sensor on the EVM, the QEN does not get set properly after the IT_ENABLE command.

I seem to have found the source of my problem for not being able to get QEN to be set and IT to begin.

How can I configured the device to disregard whether or not the external temperature sensor is connected? OR how do I trigger the device when no external temp sensor is connected?

I have answered the Q&A that selected internal vs. external and save my responses to the device.  I know the internal temp sensor is being used because the proper temperature is being detected on the embedded device.

Thanks for any help,

Eddie
