BQ34Z100-G1: Failed to execute Firmware - No Acknowledge from device.

Part Number: BQ34Z100-G1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ34Z100EVM, BQSTUDIO

Hello I currently tring to set up the BQ34Z100-G1 with the bq34z100EVM, so I follow this document "SLUU904A".

First I got a calibration error that I fix thanks to this thread.

But now in section 3.5 I can program the firmware of the BQ found here : SLUC580 but when I click on "Execute FW" I have this message : "Failed to execute Firmware - No Acknowledge from device."

Sincerely, C.Cabantous

  • Hi C. Cabantous,

When you program the device with bqStudio, it will automatically execute the firmware after writing. In the left hand panel entitled 'Dashboard' you should see the icons colored in if the firmware is executing, assuming the dashboard autorefresh is enabled (green/red bar at the top of the dashboard - click on it to change state - ensure it is green).

If you cannot see the colored in icons on the dashboard on the left, read from the device at address 0xAA and 0x16. If you have a response at 0xAA, the device is executing the firmware. If you have a response at 0x16, the device is not executing the firmware currently and should be reprogramed as there was most likely an error during programming.

You may also test the TS pin with the scope to look for a pulse - the pulse will be seen every 1 sec with the device in normal mode and every 20 sec with the device in sleep.

    Sincerely,
    Bryan Kahler
